Oh, Osa.

We sat,
foreheads together,
like a horizon of plain sand
meeting the darkest night,
and we spoke to God
in unison.

Your voice
funneled into my young ears
and filled every inch
of me
with a dream
so vivid,
I was sure we were sleeping.
And, for the first time,
in too many tired years,
my throat awakened,
and blissfully stretched out,
before pouring
a bellyfull of honesty
neatly into your lap.

Thirty feet above
any sort of certainty,
we threw our heads back
and,
between our words of wisdom,
we howled like cubs
at a waxing moon.

And each moment since,
your animal croon
has been left ringing
in my ears.
